This technique is currently used when a flotation device is not available or if the swimmer is unconscious. This is called the PIA CARRY, where the lifeguard keeps the patient’s head above the water and back kicks to shore.
The Working Prototype was used here to test the efficacy of both buoyancy and motion of both the cargo (patient) and user (lifeguard)
